Chris VanZant has worked for radio stations throughout the United States including, KNIK in Anchorage Alaska, KMTN in Jackson Hole and KRQU Laramie, Wyoming, WRXL in Richmond Virginia, WLFX in Ocean City Maryland, WTRI in Evansville Indiana and WZZR in Florida. He also has done his most recent stint here in NJ working for WJRZ where he was the Program Director/Music Director and PM Drive host for 9 years and then switched to Morning Drive that he co-hosted for the past year. VanZant is also the voice of Rutgers basketball and football.
Chris has hosted some of the most highly rated shows for WJRZ where he consecutively coveted the number 1 and 2 ratings in his daypart. The recipient of numerous NJBA and RAB awards for his concepts and participation for local and national business campaigns, VanZant has shown a special interest in the local community and has won the praise and following of the business community.
Mr. VanZant has deep roots in NJ growing up in Monmouth County, he has called Berkeley Township in Ocean County home for the past 11years.
Chris VanZant has a special connection to the Locks of Love Charity which aids children stricken with cancer in which he just recently donated his hair for the third time, he is an advocate of The Jersey Shore Animal Center, POW/MIA, Vest-A-Cop, The Spyder McGuire Memorial Scholarship Fund to name a few, and is a very visible figure at many Ocean County events hosting the Brick Township Summerfest Concert Series and The Sounds of Summer Concert Series in Berkeley Township.
Chris has been seen on television as he traveled the country filming numerous features and pledge drives for PBS; is also the Host and Producer of a show called "Southbound Connections" which is a mix of Southern Rock, The Blues Memphis Soul and Rockin’ Country on WUCZ in Nashville.
Chris attended grammar school in Hazlet and Rumson, High School at Shore Regional in West Long Branch and at East H.S. in Anchorage, AK, He graduated from Emery Aviation College in Colorado.
Prior to his radio career, Chris was a flight instructor, flew the “Bush” in Alaska, has extensive Mountain flying experience mentored by the legendary Sparky Imeson (author of the Mountain Flying Bible), and racked up quite a few hours in a 1943 DC-3 while flying to and from the islands of, Eleuthera and Harbour Island, Cape Hatia and Port-au-Prince Haiti and the various islands off of the coast of Florida… Although never married VanZant spends as much of his “off” time with his two young boys Christopher John and Benjamin Joseph, boating on the Barnegat Bay, riding motorcycles and horses and continues to love and be part of all the people, places and things the Jersey Shore has to offer.
Chris is a published narrator of educational materials for John Wiley & Sons Publishers and the voice of numerous online college programs, educational videos, flash animations and DVD's.....
